Autorenporträt

James was only six years old and in kindergarten when he wrote and illustrated this story for entry into the Scholastic Reading Rainbow Young Writers and Illustrators contest in 2002. He won second place for his age group. This story was inspired by James' interests and experiences exploring the high desert mesa behind his childhood home. Many weekends were spent investigating the desert washes, experiencing wildlife and rock hounding. This story is a representation of what you might see and hear while walking through the desert. James still enjoys drawing and has produced more elaborate works of art. James became a nurse and continues to be successful with his many endeavors including winning CrossFit competitions and raising beautiful children with his wife Kortney.
