Bachelor Thesis from the year 2024 in the subject Social Work, grade: 1,1, Protestant University of Applied Sciences Ludwigsburg (International Social Work), language: English, abstract: Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL) constitute a highly vulnerable segment of Philippine society. Given that social workers uphold a deeply ingrained tradition of commitment to the just treatment of all individuals, especially those affected by oppression, discrimination, or exclusion, this research examines the connections between the target group and the profession in the context of its opportunities and challenges. To illuminate this connection, it is imperative to construct a nuanced understanding of the circumstances surrounding these children and unveil the root causes of this social issue. The qualitative research presented in this thesis reveals that social work holds the potential to leverage numerous opportunities for advocating on behalf of CICL, offering crucial assistance and guidance, particularly within rehabilitation facilities. However, the profession is simultaneously confronted with various challenges, underscoring the need for enhanced framework conditions to contribute effectively to the sustainable rehabilitation of CICL through comprehensive and holistic approaches. The ultimate goal is to prevent recidivism, forge brighter prospects for the children, and empower them to lead lives of freedom and dignity. This research underscores the imperative for local government units, policymakers, and society at large to collectively shoulder the responsibility of safeguarding the rights of children in conflict with the law and ensuring a robust framework for their rehabilitation.
