May sacred flames, tenacious control, be always in the Freemans soul." -William Butler, Revolutionary Patriot July 4, 1824. Especially in our current political climate, people like to claim that they know what our founding fathers intended for our country, and what they would have wanted for our nation. However, very few people have actually examined the source documents, and even fewer understand the political climate that influenced and shaped our founding fathers. Chronicles of a Nation is an impressive work of history that reads like the most exciting novel, illuminating the differences between Jefferson, Washington, and our nation's founders, while giving insight into the lives of the everyday patriots who contributed to America's philosophy and vision. It is a story of hope and heroism, courage and endurance-and it is written by a historian whose love for early American history is matched only by her diligent precision in research. Colorful, rich with information, and full of the passion and inspiration that marked our country's transition from colonies to a nation, this brilliant book brings America's past to life. "This book is a powerful reminder of exactly where the roots of the American political process really lie: in the hearts, minds, and experience of ordinary people...who should not be forgotten." -Midwest Book Reviews. "[Recommended] to everyone interested in preserving America's past and future freedom. A tribute to our Founding Fathers." -Barbara Adair Regent, National Society of Daughters of the American Revolution

Autorenporträt
Joan Wheeler LaGrone's commitment to vivid, authentic history led her to travel to Europe several times to search for the lives of her ancestors, who all arrived in America before the Revolution. They were Pilgrims, Puritans, pioneers in 1620s Jamestown, Huguenots, and altogether they were part of founding and developing the thirteen colonies. She combed ancient archives and spoke with historians and archivists, tracing her families back in time to before the Norman Conquest. She has visited many of her ancestral homes in both the United States and Europe, and explored our nation's historic sites and national archives. She is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution through her first document patriot, William Butler. She is also the author of a book on the history of Scotland, Edmonstone Chronicles: Royal Knights and Scottish Kings, and her award-winning book Beyond the Veil: Chronicles of a Nation has been nominated for the prestigious DAR Historic Preservation Award.
