"I feel so distant from God." "I get so overwhelmed with life!" "I keep hurting the people around me." "I don't have purpose in life anymore." "I had connection with Jesus, but I lost it." These are a few of the comments and questions that have been heard from people who have come into the HOPE Ministries counseling office. Joann also had many of these same questions as she struggled through a journey of depression. Caring individuals walked with her through this dark valley using the Caring For The Heart model of Biblical counseling, founded by John Regier. In this process Joann experienced the grace of God in a variety of ways. She has a passion that people know that they do not need to remain trapped or helpless when the difficulties of life seem to overpower them. This book is designed to offer practical suggestions to resolve issues that might hinder one's relationship with God, themselves, and with others. It is designed to be an encouragement to believers who are on a journey of enriching their lives. There is hope for change in the areas that hinder relationships because God is gracious. These principles helped Joann understand a personal Jesus and enjoy life once again. Her desire is that this book will point individuals to Jesus, who is a Friend, Shepherd, Comforter, Healer, and the Author of LIFE.
Autorenporträt
Joann Nisly spent 24 enjoyable years in Christian School ministry in NW Ontario. In 2007, God led her to move to Albuquerque, NM, where she met Nevin Nisly and his 5 adult children. She and Nevin were married in 2008. A year after their marriage, they moved to Partridge, KS, with a desire to be involved with Biblical counseling. They had completed their internship with Caring for the Heart Ministries just prior to moving. Nevin and Joann established a counseling ministry out of their own home, HOPE Ministries of KS, in 2010 using the Caring for the Heart model of Biblical counseling. They are currently full-time in this nonprofit ministry. Joann's desire to help others experience the grace of God in their hearts came out of her own difficult journey through depression. More information about the ministry can be found at www.nislysHOPEministries.com. Joann enjoys spending time with their ten grandchildren whenever she gets the chance. She also enjoys doing life with Nevin. Together they enjoy walking with people on their emotional journeys, playing board games, doing gardening, playing tennis, traveling, and interacting with family. Joann is grateful for the healing God has brought into her life and is excited about seeing others experience the same for themselves.
