However, the situation has not improved much. This research looked at an approach to teaching and learning of mathematics where the learners are fully involved in the learning process. Results showed that the approach improved students confident and the experimental group performed well in problems that required High Order Thinking Skills (HOTS). This shows that curriculum developers and teachers should read the text with a view to implementing the findings in the schools.
