PODIATRY: A Psychological Approach provides a problem and case-based approach to understanding psychological and social difficulties commonly experienced by clients and presented to practitioners. This book is designed to be an introduction to important applied psychology in clinical practice. The main chapters are organised as individual patient case studies with relevant psychological theory attached. Attention is also given to socialpsychological issues pertinent to both newly qualified and experienced podiatric practitioners. Theory is thus explained in the context of the presenting patient in a spirit of problem-based learning, enabling the reader to acquire knowledge and skills that would otherwise be gained more slowly. Each section poses questions for the student to consider and provides an explanation of key issues. The learning activities and challenges draw on theoretical models underpinning psychological theory. These are then applied to podiatry in a clinically useful way. At the end of each character there is a summary of important psychological theory, directed reading and references.
