Autorenporträt
Joel D. Johnson is the author of The American Dream is Success in a Business of Your Own, G. Randall Publishing Co., 1994, ISBN 0-9659439-0-9, and has written business articles for various newspapers and magazines. Joel was born into a poor sharecropper family in East Texas. Financial contraints, poor self-image and poor grades kept the doors of higher education seemiingly closed. After graduating from high school he persued the retail business and eventually established a chain of 14 footwear outlets. As the retail climate made major shifts during the 70's, Joel began a career in the wholesale side of the footwear industry. He retired in 1996. Realizing retirement was not his calling, he opened a consulting practice, where he now counsels business owners. He is married to Louise Ladatta Johnson. They have four children and nine grandchildren. Joel and his wife make their home in Longview, Texas. Fearing rejection, lacking confidence, and harboring a poor self-image, Joel put off the challenge of writing The Power of Self-Imaging, believing he was not qualified as a writer. No matter how he tried to hide from writing it, the spirit within him forced Joel to move forward with the project. Now after thirty-two years the book is complete. While the contents of the book is based on scientific facts, biblical study, observations through life experiences, and mental programming, Joel does not claim to be PhD, psychiatrist, psychologist, philosopher, scientist, guru, cult leader or any such thing. Joel spent many years in self-discovery. What he has learned he now passes on to the reader and while he cannot guarantee results from what one might learn from reading his book, he found The Power of Self-Imaging works for him.
