Yuval Ben-Bassat is Professor of Middle Eastern Studies at the University of Haifa. He specializes in the history of the modern Middle East, and the late Ottoman period in particular. He is the author of Petitioning the Sultan (2013), the editor of Developing Perspectives in Mamluk History (2017), the co-editor of Late Ottoman Palestine (2011) with Eyal Ginio, and the co-editor of From the Household to the Wider World (2022) with Johann Buessow.
