John T. Ambenge was born and raised in rural Kenya. He earned his bachelor's degree from Concordia University, Montreal, Canada, a master's from University of Windsor , Ontario, Canada and a doctorate in sociology from University of Connecticut, Storrs.He has taught in several colleges and universities both in Kenya and the United States.
