The Transformation of Consciousness in Myth reflects the spectacle of our age with its changing ideas and values. This work is an exploration of past myths and their relationship with our present personal and social mythologies as related through psychology. As many of our present myths are becoming obsolete, the author elaborates upon what will replace them. Human beings' spiritual journeys and their purpose in the cosmos are discussed. The theories of Carl Jung and Joseph Campbell are used to explain and clarify the transformation of consciousness that occurs in myth and to those persons who enter into the psychological journey of myth-making. A primary source for furthering personal and global transformation is the role of the feminine. Professor Tigue seeks to clarify and deepen our understanding of Jung's collective unconscious and archetypes. His holistic approach of integrating mysticism, spirituality, myth and psychology is of particular value for the ardent seeker.

Rezensionen
«...'The Transformation of Consciousness in Myth: Integrating the Thought of Jung and Campbell', is a great contribution to a better comprehension of how myths are a bridge between individual and collective unconscious, leading to self-discovery and discovery of identity between individual and universal self, between being and Being.» (Pierre Weil, University of Brasília)
«The adventure that the hero went through of finding one's own self, in the mythic search for his personal treasure, is the same today as four thousand years ago. It is a long day's journey into the essence of the psyche and John Tigue is leading us through the ages and levels of our own eternal being. The modern hero transcends himself from the lap of the female goddess.» (Vera Schiller Kohn, Centro de Desarrollo Integral) «...the author's mature understanding of the Jungian fundamentals and the focus on Campbell's celebration of the mythical heroic make this publication precious.» (Explorations - Journal for Adventorous Thought)
