Greenmarket Square in the heart of Cape Town, well known as a hub for informal traders, local people and tourists, was chosen as the site for this study, because of the rich cultural diversity of the role-players.

Dr. John Wankah Foncha is a lecturer at the School of Post-graduate Studies (SPGS) in the Faculty of Education of the University of Fort Hare, Eastern Cape RSA. He has taught Literacy and English as a second language across different Faculties of the University of the Western Cape.
