Document from the year 2023 in the subject Business economics - Review of Business Studies, , language: English, abstract: The following paper analyses the industrial revolutions, going from the first to the fourth, and their significance in the development of globalization and its presumed end in an increasingly connected and hyper-technological world. The result of the industrial revolutions has enormously changed the meaning of production and sociology over the times leading to the variation of systems and the challenge for new resources, even immaterial ones. The continuous expansion of the markets from the free trade theories of Adam Smith to the interventionist and laissez-faire theories of John Maynard Keynes found a confirmation in the antithetical reasonings of Karl Marx which somehow, albeit contradictory, partially resurface in Jeremy's theories of the Sharing Economy Rifkin paving the way for the fourth industrial revolution into which the increasingly global and technological connection of the third industrial revolution has led us. Can we therefore speak of a Second Globalization of markets and industries or the end of this era of connections in which the world is hyper-connected?
