This dissertation discusses an user-oriented collaborative approaches for efficient content distribution in P2P environment. Firstly, this dissertation focuses on the effective control of P2P traffic increasing continuously and propose the bilateral cooperative approach based on the explicit collaboration between the network operator and the peers. Especially, we focus on the active participation of peers in the P2P traffic control unlike most exiting work overlooking what the peers could contribute. After that, this dissertation discusses the collaboration between BitTorrent swarms for efficient content distribution in BitTorrent. Collaborating swarms support temporal caching storage for the counterpart swarm so that the counterpart swarm can continue to share the content under the content unavailability problem.
