Neighbourliness is a two fold concept. On the one hand, there is what will be called manifest neighbourliness . This is characterised by overt forms of social relationships, such as mutual visiting and going out for purposes of pleasure. On the other hand, there is what will be termed latent neighbourliness, which is characterized by favourable attitude to neighbours which result in positive action when a need arises, especially in times of crises or emergency.
