There are how-to books and then there are snarky suggestions with the backhanded information you need. No matter which way you like your answers to your questions about thru-hiking, you'll be relieved to know you can get it both ways between these covers. There are blogs, vlogs, posts and boasts out there on this subject, but none of these consider the reader can do much more than add two plus two and get, well, four. James Michael Fuller, aka Rocky Too, is a five-thousand-miler in the world of thru-hiking. Here he lets loose with an enlightened look of hilarious takes and insights to help untangle the magical and mysterious world of thru-hiking. The uninitiated reader won't get half of it, but that's OK; half of the people who are setting out to thru-hike won't get it either.
Autorenporträt
At age fifty-five, Jim sets out on his first attempt to hike the Appalachian Trail. It is now or never time. Eighteen-hundred and thirty-five miles later, he pulls up with what would turn out to be a stress fracture in his right ankle. Age sixty rolls around and so does the pandemic. Jim and his wife, Deb, have way too much time on their hands. Jimmy Buffett's old concerts are playing on Margaritaville TV. Jim hears about the Eastern Continental Trail and in October of 2020, Jim and Deb set out on a planned one-year, 5,400-mile hike from Key West, Florida to the Gaspé Peninsula in Québec. He couldn't write about it directly. But he could write this. Jim's Daily Hike-Ku and Deb's blog about their thru-hike can be found at https://boomerhikers.com.
