It looks into a combination of factors that made the advent of electric cars possible now and focuses on the global struggle for natural resources. Also, uncertainties brough about by the electrification of motoring are addressed in relation to the world economy and politics. Part II presents reflections on the practice of doing a journalistic research. It addresses the constraints which an industry journalist faces in his/her work. Namely, such issues as the complexity of the industry and constraints of the media environment are examined. The discussion is put into a perspective of available academic research and a case for journalist's self-reflexivity is made.

Jan Lepetun worked for a number of publications, reporting from Eastern and Western Europe, Africa and Central Asia. He finished Erasmus Mundus course in business and finance journalism at City University London, Aarhus University and University of Amsterdam.His scope of interest includes global political economy and development issues.
