Jan Underwood is the author of two previous novels, Utterly Heartless and Day Shift Werewolf, and a collection of short stories. She has lived in several Spanish-speaking countries and is in her thirtieth year of teaching Spanish in Portland, Oregon, where she lives with her husband and cat.
