Jason Clendenin (b. New York) is a writer, poet, music producer, and artist living in Harlem. His creative roles have included an author, novelist, music producer and award-winning poet. His poetry works have been featured in ad campaigns. He has submitted projects to Harpo and Paramount Pictures. He has had several pitch meetings among them with MTV, Gavin Pallone, and Time Warner. Frustrated with the lack of diversity in mainstream industry. He has worked on being independent on his creative artistic journey. His other endeavors have included teaching and representing talented artist. Feeling cultural and gender diversity is missing in mainstream media. Jason has created independent projects to explore controversial, but timely content. Projects that are creative, compelling, and interesting. The first is "Plantation - Testaments". 2019 is the 400th year anniversary of the first documented slave to come to America. Little is known about the period at the end of slavery and the years shortly after. These were freed men and woman, who did not know they were free for several years. Roots was a ground-breaking book written by Alex Halley. The TV show still is among the highest rated show in TV history. "Eighty-five percent of all television homes saw all or part of the miniseries. This shows the interest there was to learn about this American Story of slavery. The connection the country had to this event. Jason originally wrote Plantation as a screenplay. He created music which features several artists. Troy Weekes, one of the Artist songs, "Trying so hard to Survive" is recognized as an inspirational song dealing with the everyday issues facing youth as they attempt to better their lives. The stories of Social Change and injustice is at the root of the song. Jason is currently working on several books and visual Art works. He is completing his first full-length poetry collection, Black in America, to be published by Harlem Publishing Press. This a poetry collection represented by both black and white Art and provocative poetry. The art project is a full-length poetry collection, Black in America, looks to examine society through art. His goal is to invest in creative projects. To build a brand with integrity that will allow diversity to flourish. He continues his work writing, producing, and creating art and working on long-awaited project.
