Iean Sands is the author of the poetry collection Gandy Dancing (Antrim House, 2009), which won a 2014 Eric Hoffer Legacy Award and was a finalist for that year's Eric Hoffer First Horizon Award and the Eric Hoffer Montaigne Medal. Her poetry has been published in literary journals, anthologized, and nominated for a Pushcart Prize. She also served as a journalist, reviewer, columnist and correspondent whose interviews, essays, and feature articles appeared in regional and national publications as well as online. Jean served as a poet in the schools and taught poetry and creative writing to adults throughout northwest Connecticut for over twenty years. She was preparing the present collection for publication when she died in 2016.
