The middle child of three, Jeffrey Manship was born in Winchester in 1957. The family settled in Worksop in his teens, where he completed his education at the local comprehensive. He spent 37 years as a postman in the town before taking early retirement to fulfil his lifelong ambition of becoming a published author. He has two sons with his wife, Jakki, and four children from a previous relationship. His other interests include football, cricket (well, most sports really) and the family Labrador.
