No one understands the hilarity, miracles heartbreak, and pain of a hospital emergency department quite like me. After sixteen years of working as a Registered Nurse, I have seen it all. The COVID-19 pandemic was just the chaotic experience to show me that I needed to tell this story. I needed to tell the behind-the-scenes, firsthand nurse's perspective on working in the most 'in-the-trenches' part of healthcare and just how important intuition has become to helping me stay the course. Through my panic, anxiety, and complete exhaustion came so many lessons that needed to be shared. From this place, I discovered just how using my intuition in this field could open so many new avenues for healing, self-discovery and performing my best in this fast-paced world. Nursing Intuition: How to Trust Your Gut, Save Your Sanity and Survive Your Career, is a book needed now more than ever. It demonstrates, from my own direct experiences, how to build resilience, develop your intuition and cultivate your confidence in a field that has gone through its own series of battles. It's a mix of academic-based information from my own training, a touch of spirituality, mixed in with a range of sordid tales pulled right from my own shiftwork. Bullies, ghosts, aha-moments, intuition, and death - nothing is too taboo for Nursing Intuition and this exactly the draw of this book. There is nothing quite like it out there and because of this, it is needed now more than ever. I invite you into this side of the ER. This book is your glimpse into this world of shocking trauma, lessons learned, and all the various ways intuition showed me my true power. Using a mix of journaling, reflection, and examples I will empower the reader to start digging into their own traumas and how they have been coping up until this point.

Autorenporträt
Hi, I'm Jennifer Johnson, and I am a wife, mother of two, and a Registered Nurse in Ontario, Canada. I have spent the last sixteen years of my career in the emergency room of big and small hospitals all over Northern and Southern Ontario. I have personally been a part of all the heartbreak, drama, bullying, life to death moments, and then also trying to cope in the ER during an ongoing pandemic. My books are my rally cry to all the other nurses struggling through this pandemic and finding that they are losing their love of nursing. They (as well as I) are burnt out and depressed and feeling hopeless. The love, caring, and camaraderie of nursing have changed for all of us, and the expectation that we continue to show up to a job that puts our lives on the line is new to us, and we are not doing well. I wanted to put this book out there to let nurses know they are not alone. Bringing back the love of nursing is possible. Now more than ever, we need to support and help raise each other. These are those books.
