The gritty tale of a man-out of control in his mind, though well-intended in his heart-whose trip to paradise almost cost him his life. In thirty days of travels in Haiti, I received two bloody noses, was held at gunpoint, kidnapped, rescued, and witnessed two Haitians beaten and slaughtered... I've woven my personal stories with others' firsthand tales of the Haitian experience, as few have witnessed and most don't survive.

Autorenporträt
Max was the eldest son and fifth child of a large southern farming family in the late '50s south Alabama agricultural landscape. With both parents and a grandfather professionally educated, schoolwork always came along with farm chores. Athletic and always adventurous, with a rascal spirit, Max played every sport his parents could find to help quell that raucous personality. Bachelor of science in Civil Engineering at Auburn University and walk-on captain of the 1979 JV Auburn football team, son, father, husband, traveler, pilot, boat captain, and adventure seeker, Max's unique Haiti experiences are brought to life in vivid, stunningly beautiful yet often gruesome detail.
