It is a particularly useful reference guide for those working in the livestock sector, processing agricultural and livestock products or produce feed. It describes some considerations of the effects of toxins on specific and nonspecific parameters that show the impact on different animals. In turn, provides an exhaustive review of the various adsorbents used to try to reduce the harmful effects of mycotoxins on the health and productivity of animals. Furthermore and perhaps the most important fact of this work is presented to the diatomaceous earth (DE) as a new technological additive designed to bind the different toxins in the gastrointestinal tract of animals and prevent its absorption. Therefore, presents a compilation of papers describing the role of DE to prevent the toxic effects of major mycotoxins in farm animals and laboratory animals

Degree Animal Husbandry at National University of Colombia. MSc Animal Nutrition and later PhD in Animal Production at UAB by predoctoral fellowship. Experience in feed industry and animal production has served as an ideal complement to practice as university teacher through his career and is currently full Professor at Politécnico Colombiano JIC.
