ABOUT THE AUTHOR: Julie Irene Prieto received her Ph.D. from Stanford University in 2013 and joined the U.S. Army Center of Military History in October 2014 as a Presidential Management Fellow. At the Center, she specializes in the history of the U.S. Army in Latin America. Her most recent article, "The Sword and the Book: The Benjamin Franklin Library and U.S.-Mexican Relations, 1936-1962," was published in the December 2013 issue of the journal Book History.
