In our 35+ years of combined experience in education and nonprofit sectors, we've seen plenty of organizations that have failed to thrive over the long haul. In our 35+ years of combined experience in education and nonprofit sectors, we've seen plenty of organizations that have failed to thrive over the long haul. We've also encountered countless leaders who have never considered their leadership legacy. We have come to recognize that these problems are related-and we want to help organizations solve them both. That's one reason why we developed the Social Capital Quotient (SCQ) framework. This framework emphasizes the use of social capital in building relationships that promote a positive leadership legacy and foster organizational longevity. The SCQ suggests that if individuals in organizations lead with the recognition of value as the primary driver of success, and if the organization develops an ecosystem in which individuals help one another improve, then the organization can retain leaders, develop inclusive systems, and thrive at optimal levels. The SCQ framework consists of four key elements. The focus of this book is element 1: retention. We believe the retention of quality personnel in an organization is a byproduct of the value placed on such personnel. Starting with this element of the SCQ framework will set you and your organization up for long-term positive impact. If you're ready to build a positive lasting legacy and to ensure the longevity of your organization, the SCQ framework is for you!
Autorenporträt
Augustine Emuwa, also affectionately referred to as Augie, is the principal consultant and founder at Identity Capital Consulting, LLC. Raised by a single father migrating from Nigeria to the south side of Chicago, Augie learned to adapt in conflicting cultural worlds. For him, this became a means for acceptance, opportunity, and in some cases, survival. His childhood juxtaposition laid the foundation for professional intuitiveness that has guided his efforts to bring forth solutions in the realm of human/social capital. In his eyes, equity and liberatory transformation isn't just a thought, it's a spirited outcry for investment and collective impact that justifies the means. As a graduate, teacher and later administrator and parent in underserved public schools, Augie developed a keen awareness of what school should look and feel like from a whole-child perspective. This ideology was formed and fostered through an experiential lens as a leader in low resourced underperforming elementary and high school turnaround settings in Chicago, the third largest school district in the United States. He believes that schools and other organizations dedicated to impacting the lives of kids have an upper hand in shaping equity in our country and abroad if scalable mechanisms are put in place (with them, by them and for...them). Augie's personal philosophy is simple - the assets are in the room, as long as we listen, learn and leverage. Currently, Augie holds a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing and Management from Jackson State University, a Master's of Arts in Teaching with a focus on diverse learning and an additional Master's degree in School Administration & Organizational Change from Roosevelt University. Additionally, Augie completed direct leadership training through a national principal selection residency founded at Harvard University. Aside from these experiences, his most significant accomplishment is being a husband to his wife Sylvia and father of four children (Brennan, Tatum, Lauren-Chima, and Benjamin the tremendous toddler). As a family they're commitment to work- life integration has been a parable for true happiness and passion illustrated by the mantra, find a need, and fill it!
