Pineapple has encouraging potentials for economic development in Nigeria. However, despite Nigeria s position and potential in Pineapple production in the world and the enormous economic advantages the country has over the crop, its potentials are under utilized which otherwise, would have served as an important tool in achieving some of the objectives of the transformation agenda in Nigeria. Availability of little empirical evidences on the Competitiveness and effect of government policies on the commodity prompted the study to use a PAM framework to analyze the Competitiveness, Comparative advantage and Policy effects on Pineapple Production in Nigeria using Osun state as a case study due to its prominence in Pineapple production. Results from the analysis of the study therefore will be an eye opener to pineapple producers and other actors in the pineapple value chain to improve their capacity and industry performance in developing high quality pineapple products that play a significant role in the country s bid to promote national economic growth and development.
