Iron deficiency is a common nutritional disorder in many crop plants, causing chlorosis, poor yield and reduced nutritional quality. Micronutrients malnutrition is a global health problem affecting more than 3 billion people worldwide. Iron deficiency is particularly prevalent in women of child-bearing age because of the regular loss of menstrual blood. The immediate outcome of Fe deficiency is anemia (IDA), which is thought to affect at least twobillion people worldwide.
