Medicinal plants play a crucial role in providing primary health care among rural communities. With continual harvesting and death of the practitioners there is an urgent need to document ethnomedicinal knowledge, study the active components and further look into ways of conserving the medicinal plants. This book presents indigenous knowlegde of the medicinal plants used by Sabaots in Mt. Elgon District Kenya with a preliminary phytochemical analysis. The government of Kenya together with other concerned agencies should foster integration of the indigenous knowledge with conventional medicine. All benefits and advancements accruing from this work should be channelled to the Sabaots in Kopsiro Division.
