The aim of this book is to shed light over the relationship between aid organizations and quality assurance. More specifically, we aim to identify the challenges with quality assurance work in the context of Swedish party affiliated organizations. We have studied the process of quality assurance work in aid organizations, namely the Swedish party affiliated organizations, PAOs. During this process we have examined three of the organizations more closely, all of which have been in different stages of implementation. We have conducted a number of interviews with key individuals related to this process. From our empirics we identified a wide range of challenges which we narrowed down into six areas in our analysis. However, the most central aspect in our conclusion is the definition of quality. It is crucial for the entire quality assurance process that a common definition of quality is established among all involved participants. The definition of quality is the underlying variablethat when identified defines all other parts of the quality assurance process and is also the key factor when solving the equation of each challenge.
