I have been told, in order to accomplish anything, you must first put your goals down on paper. I don't know why that was so hard for me to do. My biggest problem was I didn't know what my goals were. I was content working to pay my own way and not have to depend on anyone to support me. The closest I came to writing anything down was a few prayers I hoped would get answered.

This book came on the heels of a drastically changing world, right in front of my eyes. Not being one to go out and carry a protest sign, make nasty phone calls or write letters every day to people who might be involved in any given issue, I chose to write it in a way that would be more personal and honest.

Starting a new life in Arizona in the latter part of the '70s took all my attention. A new wife, four children, and now eight grandchildren left me with a wonderful generation of my own. However, any particular goals I may have thought I could reach were only wisps of daydreams. My only thoughts were, how can I take on this huge responsibility of being a husband and father and make them feel safe and secure?

The trials and heartaches that seem so big at times will be dwarfed compared to the blessings from God.
