Autorenporträt

Lora Brady (author and illustrator) is the inventor of Washamacallits(TM). She is a toy designer who has specialized in soft toys for more than three decades. Lora has worked in the toy industry for the same amount of years with a concentration in design, product development, sourcing and overseas manufacturing of children's toys and accessories. This book is a fictionalized story of how these functional toys were invented. As a young girl, Lora Brady's interest in crafts and design was instilled by her mother Loretta who taught her how to sew, knit and crochet at a very young age of 8. When she was 9 she searched in her school's library for patterns for rag dolls which she started to make at home in different sizes. A local interior designer commissioned her to make life-size rag dolls which were used as props for magazine layouts. At that tender age, she appreciated how her handiwork brought unexpected income that helped her parents buy school supplies and clothing for her and her younger siblings. Her fondest dream was to write children's books for which the invention of the Washamacallits (TM) was the catalyst to hone in her illustration and writing skills.
