Autorenporträt
Born in Punjab, Raj Loomba is a successful British-Indian businessman, who in 1997 decided to dedicate his life to supporting destitute widows. In 25 years the Loomba Foundation's education and empowerment programmes have transformed the lives of hundreds of thousands of widows and their dependants - and led the United Nations in 2010 to designate 23 June every year as International Widows Day to drive global action. Now a member of the UK's House of Lords, Loomba continues to champion the cause of the world's poorest and most marginalised people, determined to eradicate the scourge of discrimination once and for all.
