In March of 2003, I experienced every mother's worse nightmare when our 18-year-old son, Doug, was killed in a car accident. Everything. I thought I knew about God and my reality collided, and it brought me to my knees. The emotional and spiritual turmoil that ensued was greater than I could have ever imagined. This is my testimony of human brokenness and God's faithfulness to heal the broken. Christians are human, and in our humanness, we struggle. Through grief, I've learned to take my struggles to God... all of it... the good, the bad, and the ugly. Feeling torn up inside does not mean we lack faith. It does not make us bad Christians. We are not letting God down. It means we are human and in need of God more. I pray, as you read Our story--mine and God's, you will come to realize God cares about you and what you are going through. I pray you too will experience His grace and mercy and find hope and healing in His embrace. "Praise the Lord; praise God our savior. For each day he carries us in his arms."
