Latasha Weatherall is the quintessential case study for resilience. Born and raised in Chicago, Illinois to a teen mother, her childhood was replete with poverty and all the maladaptive behaviors that can affect young women of color. By seventeen years-old, Latasha was a runaway who found herself up against the generational cycles that came before her. A mother two days before her eighteenth birthday, her path to overcome past traumas would not be easy. Experience and life's dilemmas did not offer LaTasha the blueprint for how to best adult, but poor choices and decisions from them, helped her to learn them fast. With a lived experience of incarceration, today, LaTasha has worked in correctional institutions across the east coast as a program facilitator, mentor, and consultant. The co-founder of a nonprofit, she also success in multiple business ventures including business coaching and development.
