Biology is a critical Science that lays the foundation for many science occupations including Medicine. As such it is imperative for secondary school students to pay keen attention to the subject. Sadly however, research has shown that students who select biology in the secondary schools are dropping the subject at an alarming rate and the majority are not choosing it at all. This book examined the factors for the selection and non selection of Biology at a particular secondary school. It was discovered that the major reasons why students selected biology was because of the way the subjects were bundled, peer influences, future career and the teacher making the subject interesting for them. Moreover, it was revealed that the reasons why students do no opt for the subject were because of teacher expectations, tracking, subject grouping, future career, the content driven nature of the subject and by extension the teaching strategies employed by the teacher. In light of those factors, it was recommended that qualified Science teachers should be employed, schools should have well equipped labs and teaching materials and students should be integral in the planning of the biology class.
