I wondered for the umpteenth time in four years. The sound of the receiver interrupted my thoughts. "Sir," My secretary's voice came on. I frowned at the disturbance. Had I not specifically asked not to be disturbed for the next hour? I glanced at the clock on the wall and realized that 'hour' had gone by two hours ago. Groaning, I reached out and pressed a button on the receiver. "Yes, Macy?" "You have a scheduled interview appointment with a journalist from Inside Scope magazine. There's a woman here for you, Sir. Should I send her in?" Macy said in a beat. I rubbed my eyes tiredly with my thumb and index finger. The last thing I needed now was some journalist hounding me with questions for some dumb article their magazine wanted. Why the hell did Emmett put me through this? "Sir?" Macy called back my attention. "I don't want to be bothered, Macy. Clear my schedule and cancel all my meetings and appointments. Reschedule them or something…I really don't care right now. The journalist can leave; I won't be attending to anyone for the rest of the day." I told her and hung up. I turned my focus back to the picture I held and a sad smile crept onto my face. Four years ago I had been the happiest man alive. I had looked forward to spending the rest of my life with the woman of my dreams and walking down the aisle with Veronica had been the best thing that had happened to me. But my dream had been cut short before I could even spend a year being married. Exactly four years ago on this very date, Veronica and I had been driving to go to the airport. We were going on a vacation and I had been behind the wheel as we sang along to radio songs. However, only minutes after we'd left home, an accident had occurred-one that had claimed Veronica's life on the spot.
