Leisly Ann is a Dominican-American writer and poet. Born and raised in New York City, and the eldest daughter of Dominican-immigrant parents, she has spent years immersed in the cultures of different lands, and has seen and experienced firsthand its effects. She is a proud member of the Latinx community as well as a passionate advocate for mental health, as can be seen in much of her writing. Living with a diagnosis of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and plagued by what is now a decade-long battle with disordered eating, she strives to use poetry to make space for topics such as cultural expectations, self-doubt, mental illness, trauma, resilience and healing. She has a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology with minors in Sociology & Legal Studies, as well as a Master's Degree in Forensic Psychology. She lives with her parents, younger sister, and sweet puppy Sky in NYC.
