Hi. My name is Lucy and below, within this short book, you will find very personal poems, anonymised for the sake of protecting those that are dear to me. I hope you enjoy reading them and that they inspire you to write just as I was inspired by those that came before me. I was 8 when I wrote my first poem, I got in trouble because of it, I had spoken ill of the politicians of that time, the corrupt Romanian politicians. I was 16 when I started writing poetry seriously for the first time. It was nothing professional, nor did I have the grasp on either language that I have now, language is not the most important factor in writing either way. To me, it is the emotion behind it, the story, personal or not, the metaphors which pop out of the page to hug or smite you. That is what I find important. A story without feeling is like mamaliga without smantana, like a shawarma without fries, like a kiss without tongue. In short, there is something there, but it can be so much more with the feelings than without. A poem is just like that and my early poems, those from when I was 16, were not like that. I was 18 when my mother compiled some of my poems and put them into a small book. It was something that I gave to some very special people in my life. I left poetry behind afterwards so that I could focus on prose and on my novel. Sad to say, that novel is now lost to time (and to my crashing external hard-drive). But years have passed since then and I am no quitter, only for the fact that I left prose behind, just like poetry before it, to try my hand at making comics, manga to be more precise. I grew as an artist. I discovered music making too, though I was not good at it. I am still not that great when it comes to music though I try my best to tell a good story. It was only with my discovery of Shanbei storytelling, popular in Northern China, that I tried my hand yet again at poetry. By adapting the storytelling technique to my grasp of music and instruments, the dulcimer and ukulele, and to my style of writing poetry, I managed to create something that is very different from the Shanbei storytelling technique that inspired me, something that was Me.
