London born, Lucy Madden started writing about food with Homes and Gardens magazine. Moving to Ireland in 1973 she has contributed to a wide range of publications and for some years has been a regular columnist with the Irish Farmers Journal. She also writes a monthly column in Hospitality magazine as she and her husband have taken guests in their home Hilton Park in Co, Monaghan for over 20 years. In 1994 they won the Cesar Award for Best in Ireland and later the Georgina Campbell Hospitality Award and were included in Lloyd Grossman's Best in the World. Author of The Potato Year, she is currently working on a book on pumpkins. She cooks and gardens and is a great enthusiast for organic production.
