Lydia has served faithfully in churches and attended conventions throughout her lifetime. She has served as minister of music, musician, teacher of Sunday school, and Baptist Training Union in various churches in the Houston area. The University of Houston conferred upon Lydia Jo Willrich the degree of bachelor of science in education in 1972. She earned other certifications in vocational occupational orientation, generic special education, and completed the requirements for a master's degree in education in 1992-93. Her experience consists of various positions at Prairie View A&M University (attended classes from 1962 to '64), with the oil and gas industry in Texaco Inc. for over twenty years. She is a Texas certified teacher and employed with the Houston Independent School District as a teacher of self-contained special education. She later taught business education and vocational education. She was also involved with the CEHI Teacher PRS Program and completed twenty-two years at HISD. She retired in 2010. Lydia was the sole proprietor and CEO (a doctor of business administration) for Apples Unlimited Services. Lydia's special education experience also opened doors to opportunities to serve others. For over eight years, she was a provider and overseer of services provided for individuals diagnosed with mental retardation and related conditions, those who were enrolled in the HCS (home and community-based services) programs, and those who lived in the community with services and support under the authority of the Texas Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) in Austin, Texas. Lydia's parents are the late Isaac Wesley Willrich and Essie Willrich. They were parents of nine children. Lydia was the eighth child born to this union, in Houston, Texas, on August 18, 1943, and grew up in the rural area of Needville, Texas. She attended high school in Kendleton, Texas, in the class of 1961. Lydia is the proud parent of Jacorea Willrich, who is married to Chamond Taylor. Both are very talented kingdom builders, and they have three loving daughters. Lydia's hobbies are music, teaching, cooking, decorating, computer, travelling, dining out, entertaining, and writing tidbits.
