Groundwater studies are important for the optimization of groundwater use in all respect. Efficacy of soil and water conservation works was adjudged on the basis of changes in groundwater levels in Tikamgarh district of Bundelkhand through GIS environment. The groundwater recharge was quantified and compared for pre-project (Phase-1) and post-project (Phase-2) periods based on the average values of water levels over a period of 20 years. The data from 100 Permanent Observation Wells was used to determine the trend of declining/ rising water levels. A rising trend was detected in about two thirds of the areas in Phase-II.
