M Luisa Roca-Varela holds a BA in English Language and Literature, an MA in English Linguistics and a PhD (with distinction) from the University of Santiago de Compostela. She was a visiting researcher at the Universities of Birmingham and Swansea. She has published papers in national and international journals and edited a refereed volume entitled Current Research in Applied Linguistics: Issues on Language and Cognition.
