The thesis focuses on studying of Bluetooth and WLAN technologies to establish Bluetooth WLAN Integrated Network (BWIN). In particular, it addresses the problem of using WLAN coverage area to exchange data between two Bluetooth devices connected to different piconets. To achieve this goal the process of integration was studied taking in account number of factors: Interference, Noise, software development and incompatibility in packets length and addressing schemes. simulation frameworks developed to simulate the integration process and to give an analytical overview related differences between packets lengths, addressing schemes and modulation techniques used in both wireless technologies. Simulation frameworks also study the effect of Noise (AWGN) and interference in different locations in BWIN. Different issues arise when integrating between Bluetooth and WLAN networks relating to software development such as a piconet formation, performance evaluation and security requirements. These issues are studied and analyzed in this work.
