The animation of pragmatic virtual human facial models in computer graphics is a never-ending quest. Representation of realistic faces involves an advanced model for the facial skin reflectance and facial motion in the presence of light. The physical and physiological state of the skin significantly affects the facial skin appearance. As the people move, talk, endures stress does change expression especially the skin appearance in constant flux. The skin colors are the key indicators of these changes. The concentration of chromophores in melanin and hemoglobin oxygenation in the blood plays a fundamental role in mimicking these colors. An extended version of the Donner and Jensen approach in creating a realistic textured 3D facial model for animation is presented. The proposed six parameters model considering both surface and subsurface scattering capable of simulating the interaction of light with the human skin are further combined with Blend shape interpolation and Facial Action Coding System (FACS).
