Since the foundation of the country, women are not welcomed enthusiastically in political and electoral processes in Bangladesh. Women s equal participation in decision-making and their access to political power are critical issues that have long been ignored and have still not received enough attention despite special provisions to increase women s political participation. The paper aimed to look at the women s participation in parliament of Bangladesh centering the situational analysis of women s participation in the parliament with highlighting the factors affecting on women s involvement in politics in the grassroots to national level. The research looked at the challenges of women s participation in Bangladesh and makes some recommendations to overcome of this situation as well.

Mohammed Norul Alam is currently working in an International NGO in Bangladesh. He completed masters in Economics and Development Studies and contributing in development sector for last 5 years.
