This book predominantly focuses on the reproductive performance in ewes in different lambing month with record number and weight of lambs, detect polymorphism melatonin receptor 1A gene (MTNR1A) by PCR-RFLP associated with breeding out of season and correlated with prolactin hormone and investigation the association between MTNR1A polymorphisms with any variation in allele frequency of the mutations C606T and G612A in the sequence of the gene in local ewes. Blood samples were collected from 60 ewes from Agriculture Research-Ruminant Researches station in Baghdad. Genomic DNA was isolated from blood using a Genius TM Micro gDNA Extraction Kit. A large fragment of exon 2 of MTNR1A gene was amplified by PCR using specific primer pairs. The results showed that amplification fragment size 824 bp in 2% agarose gel and the PCR product was digested with RsaI enzyme. Restricted digestion allowed the determination of two alleles (R, r), and the PCR product was sequencing 20 samples of MTNR1A gene were performed by nicem, Result of alleles frequencies were 0.40 and 0.60 for the alleles R and r respectively. Genotype frequencies were RR (20%), Rr (40%) and rr (40%) in ewes with a significancy.
