I am a college graduate. I am also a teacher, certified for life in the state of Texas. Since most of my work was part-time (substitute, tutor) rather than full-time, I did not earn a retirement fund. I've told people, "You can almost make a living as a substitute teacher." When homelessness strikes, it comes as a shock. You know that things are turning down and that funds are low, but you don't really think it could happen to you. It takes a lot out of you but you can make some good friends. And if you can survive, it can strengthen your core values and give you a new outlook on mankind and life.
