One of the many factors disturbing the environmental equilibrium is the process of soil degradation leading to its impoverishment in nutrients needed for the development of plants. Application of mineral fertilizers enriches the soil with nutrients, however because of too high solubility of these compounds in water, a considerable amount of them is washed out or remains in the soil in a chemically inactive and not available form. Reduction of losses caused by washing out the components of mineral fertilizers from the soil and increase of the degree of their bioavailability can be obtained using glassy fertilizer.
