Mr Brodie pioneered a new camera-less motion capture system that tracks movement using a network of miniature lightweight sensors strapped to a skier s body. Dr Brodie was overall runner up in the New Zealand Young Scientists of the Year Awards and received an Innovation award sponsored by FIS at the 4th International Congress on Science in Skiing for this work. He graduated from Engineering School then became the New Zealand production class speed skiing champion before completing his PhD.
