From North Korea to South Korea to the United States to Brazil and back to the United States, Matthew documents the power of God in his life. Alone as a teenager in war torn Korea he not only survives but realizes his dream of education in the States. The milestones in his life include miraculous healings, college and seminary education after arriving in the States with only one dollar, and a lifetime of multicultural ministry. As a young man of dreams he was compelled by God's love to spend his life in the mission of sharing God's love. His committed life is a testimony of a man who lived out his faith daily depending entirely on God's grace. Matthew Whong was born and raised in north Korea under the heel of Japanese colonial occupation in the 30's and fled to freedom in South Korea, all alone at the age of sixteen, after the communists took over in the North, and eventually arrived in the U. S. for education with one dollar in his pocket. After college and seminary he became a pastor of American churches and Korean churches, and served as a missionary in Brazil. After retirement he served as a college professor, family counselor, and missionary pastor. Now he continues serving with deep dedication to establishing theological schools in Central America for leaders of the mushrooming evangelical churches in the thirty-three Spanish-speaking countries of Latin American. He and his wife have been happily married for forty-five years and have four grown children.
